James Wang, Ph.D.
CEO AND CHAIRMAN
Dr. James Wang serves as our Chairman of the board of directors. Dr. Wang, a co-founder, is the visionary leader behind China Direct Industries. His dream was to provide critical resources to empower Chinese entities to compete in the global economy. China Direct Industries was founded on this principle and under his leadership we strive to accomplish this goal on each project.
Dr. Wang was born and raised in Shanghai, China. As such his experience operating within the Chinese economy is instrumental to our company. Dr. Wang graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, China in 1985, and then earned a Master's Degree from the Shanghai Second Medical University, in Shanghai, China in 1988. Dr. Wang earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1994. From 1997 to 2000, Dr. Wang was a research scientist, Assistant Professor, and Lab Director at the University Of Minnesota School Of Medicine.
Since 2000, Dr. Wang has operated in a variety of capacities with public entities promoting cross border commerce. Dr. Wang continues to capitalize on his knowledge and experience to enable China Direct Industries to empower Chinese entities to compete in the global economy.
Lazarus Rothstein
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL COUNSEL AND SECRETARY
Mr. Rothstein is a Vice President and our General Counsel and Secretary. Mr. Rothstein was born and raised in South Florida and has been practicing law for over 23 years. Mr. Rothstein has held senior legal positions at Elizabeth Arden, Inc. - a global prestige fragrance and beauty products company with operations in over 17 countries, Sports Authority - the nation's largest full line sporting goods retailer operating over 385 stores throughout the United States, Daleen Technologies - a billing and customer care software provider and Let's Talk Cellular & Wireless - a specialty retailer of wireless communication products and services that operated over 270 stores in the United States. In his role as a corporate lawyer, Mr. Rothstein has supported major business units in negotiating customer and product supply agreements, license, distribution, marketing, logistics and information technology agreements and expansion into the Pacific Rim market in addition to the successful completion of several mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Mr. Rothstein has been responsible for SEC compliance and reporting and various public debt and equity offerings. Mr. Rothstein received his Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University, his Juris Doctor Degree from Nova Southeastern University Law School and has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubble, the highest level of professional excellence.
Yuwei Huang
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, MAGNESIUM SEGMENT
Mr. Huang has served as General Manager of Chang Magnesium since June 2006. Mr. Huang is responsible for the operations of Chang Magnesium. Mr. Huang serves as General Manager of Taiyuan Golden (Yiwei) Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd. since founding the company in 1999 and serves in various positions with its affiliated entities including Vice Chairman of Shanxi Golden Trust YiWei Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd, Vice Chairman of Taiyuan Qingcheng YiWei Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Taiyuan Minwei Magnesium Industry Co., General Manager of Taiyuan YiWei Magnesium Factory, and Chairman of Shangxi NiChiMen YiWei Magnesium Co., Ltd.
Jingdong Chen
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, BASIC MATERIALS SEGMENT
Mr. Chen serves as Executive Vice President of our Basic Materials segment. Mr. Chen has over sixteen years of sales experience in the chemical business. Mr. Chen serves as CEO and Chairman of Shanghai Lang Chemical Co.,Ltd. since 1998. He is instrumental in the development of Lang Chemical into a well organized chemical sales giant in the eastern part of China. Mr. Chen received his master degree from East China Normal University.
Andrew Wang
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT and CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Mr. Wang has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company since December 2009 and from August of 2009 through early December 2009 as a consultant to the Company. As a consultant, Mr. Wang was responsible for overseeing the financial management of the Company’s subsidiaries in China. Prior to joining the Company, from 2006 to 2008, Mr. Wang served as International Accounting and Project Manager for Healthways, Inc. (NASDAQ: HWAY) a multinational company where he oversaw general ledger accounting, month-end closing, foreign currency translations, consolidation, and financial reporting over all subsidiaries and controlled entities outside the United States. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Wang served as International Finance Manager for Adtran, Inc, (NASDAQ: ADTN), a telecommunication and network equipment manufacturer, where his responsibilities included overhauling and overseeing all global accounting and financial reporting, taxation, trade finance, banking, foreign currency transactions, and other treasury operations. Mr. Wang has held various financial and business development positions from 1986 through 2002 including having served as Vice President of International Operations at Oracle Communications Corp. from 1996 to 2000, where he was responsible for providing strategic advisory services on merger and acquisition activities for News Corp. (NASDAQ: NWS) and its Satellite Television Asia Region (STAR) in Beijing, China. From 1988 to 1996 Mr. Wang served as Business Development Manager for WBA, Inc., a multinational company with offices in China, where his responsibilities included the management of OEM relationships with companies including General Electric and Sylvania. During his tenure at WBA, Inc. Mr. Wang helped secure one of China’s first large scale governmental contracts in North America. Mr. Wang is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 2001. Mr. Wang also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Southern California in 1986.
Huaqin (Kim) Chen
CONTROLLER AND INTERNAL AUDITOR
Ms. Chen serves as our Controller and Internal Auditor. From January 2001 to March 2009, Ms. Chen was the Assistant Controller at International Paper Company where she was responsible for financial reporting, analysis and budgeting, internal controls, domestic and international audits, supervision of accounts receivable and payables, payroll and project managers and the establishment of the financial controls over a Hong Kong based business. Ms. Chen received a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from Winthrop University in 1992.
Xiaowen (Robert) Zhuang
GENERAL MANAGER, CDI SHANGHAI MANAGEMENT
Mr. Xiaowen Zhuang serves as General Manager of our operations in China, responsible for our operations in China. Mr. Zhuang is a registered Corporate Law consultant in Shanghai, China. As such Mr. Zhuang offers critical insights into the rules and regulations unique to doing business in China. Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Mr. Zhuang has been working as a business consultant in various capacities for private Chinese entities since 1992. In this role, Mr. Zhuang has developed an understanding of the unique challenges facing Chinese companies. Mr. Zhuang holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from East China University of Politics and Law and studied at the College of Electronics Engineering of East China Normal University.
Richard Galterio
VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLIC AND INVESTOR RELATIONS
Mr. Galterio serves as our Executive Vice President responsible for shareholder services. His responsibilities include corporate development and communications as well as the management of all public and investor relations for China Direct Industries and its clients. Mr. Galterio has over 16 years of experience in investment banking with a focus on early stage companies. Mr. Galterio has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Psychology from Villanova University.
